EPA Issues Exemption from Requirement for a Plant Pesticide
In its overall safety conclusion regarding this issuance of exemption, the EPA states that, "There is reasonable certainty that no harm will result from aggregate exposure to the U.S. population, including infants and children, to the Cry1F protein and the generic material necessary for its production. This includes all anticipated dietary exposures and all other exposures for which there is reliable information." The EPA further states that it has reached this conclusion, because "no toxicity to mammals has been observed for the plant-pesticides."
