NTP TO Review Safety of Ritalin and Soy Formula
The National Toxicology Program Center for the Evaluation of Risks to Human Reproduction recently announced that it plans to review the safety of Ritalin and Adderall (another amphetamine often prescribed for children); and Soy formula and Genistein (the primary phytoestrogen in Soy formula). In the same Federal Register notice, the NTP announced its intention to review magnesium sulfate, the most commonly used magnesium salt during pre term labor. The NTP asks for comment from the public on qualified scientists to serve on the three expert review panels being constituted for these Substances. It also asks for comment on the toxicology, current production, human exposure and environmental occurrence of these substances.
